Want more Tiger King? Joe Exotic has a new show.

ALSO: Tracy Morgan has been COVID-19 role-playing with Mrs Morgan.

Looking for more Tiger King? It appears the best stuff will be on the channel Investigation Discovery, which has just announced Investigating The Strange World Of Joe Exotic.

The network claims that it will reveal the “secrets” that only Joe Exotic knows and features exclusive footage that has not aired. It will also ask what skeletons Joe is hiding, whether his conviction is justified, who is Jeff Lowe and what does the FBI know and what secrets lie hidden within Doc Antle’s walls.

Netflix is giving parents more control over how their kids are watching. An update to the service now allows parents to block by ratings, filter out TV shows or movies manually if they don’t want the kids to be able to see it, review a child’s viewing history, and disable auto-play.

Tracy Morgan has made news following his appearance on the US Today Show. It’s a very funny bit, but worth noting it is funnier on the Today Show where it was an outrageous moment than it was when he did the same gag the night before on comedy show Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Thomas Middleditch and Ben Schwartz have a new Netflix improv series of comedy specials debuting on April 21. It’s the imaginatively titled Middleditch & Schwartz.

By the time the Obi-Wan TV series is filmed and launched, Ewan McGregor might be older than Alec Guinness. The show is now expected to launch in 2022.

Quibi: The day after

Yesterday the ABW newsletter was taken over by my day one thoughts on Quibi. I will say that I spent more time on the platform again last night and there was quite a bit that had me amused. I’m still not convinced it was AUS$12.99 worth of amusement, but we’ll see.

Today, in post-launch Quibi news:

  • Indiewire has its ranking of the 24 non-news launch shows (ie the shows they were able to review in advance). Read: Indiewire

  • The number one show on Indiewire’s list, Memory Hole, has been accused of ripping off the YouTube series called… wait for it… Memory Hole. It sounds like Quibi’s first lawsuit is on the horizon. Actually, no, second. Last week they were in court fighting an injunction over its Turnstyle technology.

  • Quibi launched to 300,000 downloads across iOS and Android on its launch day. Journalists comparing it to the 4 million Disney+ first day downloads are remarkably unfair. While entertainment and tech journos may have full Quibi awareness, it doesn’t have the same brand awareness of Disney and its many sub-brands. Plus, they’re two entirely different content propositions. Still, I reckon they’d have wanted more than 300,000. Read more: Deadline
