30 Rock star/co-creator/writer Tina Fey has requested that streaming services pull episodes from the show that included blackface performances.
As I’m sure you all remember, this happened in episodes:
Season 3, Episode 2 - Believe In The Stars
Season 5, Episode 4 - Live Show
Season 5, Episode 10 - Christmas Attack Show
Season 6, Episode 19 - Live From Studio H
This includes both of the 30 Rock live shows, which were both creative high points for the series. I’m disappointed that this includes the episode Live From Studio H where the point of the sequence was calling out the outdated and offensive depictions of women and minorities that were considered acceptable by the mainstream in previous eras.
I would argue that it is clear by the level of black face paint on Jon Hamm, that the show wasn’t strictly doing blackface, but rather was alluding to it and stepped back far enough to make that point known.
But a counterpoint to my view of it is film scholar Nicholas Sammond who believes that the 2008 election of a black President:
"somehow generated permission for media producers to more freely express racist stereotypes and sentiments under the dictum that a forthright acknowledgement of racism also provides for its ironic absolution."

A sequel to stop-motion animated classic Chicken Run is going into production next year. While it is being made for Netflix, the movie will also have a run in cinemas to qualify for awards.
The film will be about the daughter of the chickens in the original film. This is a convenient way to not explain why original film voice actor Mel Gibson is not going to be heard in the new film.

With no new movies, retro screenings have been taking place which is why this week the biggest movie in the US is Jurassic Park which made $517k at 230 locations. The number 2 film? Jaws which made $516k at 187 locations (a better per-screen average).
Netflix series #blackAF will return for a second season. I suppose even Flaked got a second season…
On June 10 (one day only), the number one film in the US was the independent movie Unsubscribe.
Filmed on a budget of $0, producer Eric Tabach bought every seat in an indie theatre. With just two people in attendance, the movie posted box office takings of $25,488 and, for 24 hours, was the number one film at the US box office.
