The L Word is back! Jerry Media controversy! A Muppet rap battle! And much more!

Showtime has ordered a follow-up series to The L Word.
Marja-Lewis Ryan will serve as showrunner and exec producer of the series alongside “L Word” creator Ilene Chaiken and original series stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig and Leisha Hailey. The drama that revolved around a group of LGBT women living on the Westside of Los Angeles ran for six seasons on Showtime from 2004 to 2009. Beals, Moennig and Hailey will reprise their roles for the new season.
The Good Fight will return on 14 March on CBS All Access in the US. I’m a big fan of the show, so am keen as mustard for this.
Cut. It. Out! Fuller House is set to conclude with its fifth season on Netflix. The show was reportedly a strong performer for Netflix, so I’m actually a little surprised that the show is tapping out now (though, it had been rumoured for some time).
Thanks to the Fyre Festival docs on Netflix and Hulu, everyone is now well aware of media agency Jerry Media/F*ckJerry. It started out initially as an Instagram account and was well known as a source of stolen jokes.
As per Vulture:
FuckJerry’s rise to social-media stardom was built on stolen jokes — or as both account creators like to call it, “curating” jokes. Like Ostrovsky, the man behind FuckJerry, Elliot Tebele, has managed to attain over 14 million Instagram followers by passing Twitter jokes and memes off as his own — the general style being screenshots with proper attribution (most commonly, Twitter usernames) conveniently cropped out. Ostrovsky and Tebele’s long-running joke theft has been called out and covered extensively by comedians and writers over the years, so more recently, the accounts have included attribution, presumably to ward off further criticism. Still, they both continue to reap the rewards built from other people’s work, with Ostrovsky landing a book deal and his own wine brand and Tebele evolving FuckJerry into a marketing agency that has run ads by Burger King, Bumble, DirecTV, and Jack in the Box, making as much as $30,000 per post.
Now, the Instagram account is running posts sponsored by Comedy Central. Not a great look for the cable comedy channel to be pumping money into a brand notorious for stealing the work of comedians.

Remember that World Record Egg on Instagram? Well, Jerry Media are trying to monetise it. Followers of the egg may have noticed recent posts with the egg cracking, suggesting inside. Well, they’re trying to get a big payday by getting a client on board for the eventual opening of the egg. Whoever coughs up the cash will determine what’s in the egg.

In a slide deck, Jerry Media proposed that the egg crack to reveal the words Impeach Trump as Trump popped out and did the chicken dance. The agency even created a short animated video demonstrating the stunt.
Need to Impeach ultimately passed on the opportunity. “It was interesting,” said Aleigha Cavalier, a spokesperson for Tom Steyer, the founder of Need to Impeach.
And you thought you were just liking an egg. There’s nothing pure in the world anymore.
Soon kids will be able to go to school in virtual reality. Kosmos have plans for schooling that can incorporate Kindergarten through to Grade 12, but have started out with a 6-student class ‘Intro to Rockets’. Here students can run science experiments and work on engineering problems that would normally be too expensive or complicated to conduct in real-life.
I’d suggest the staff at Kosmos should first find a VR course to teach them how to better create marketing videos.

Kermit will join Pepe The Prawn in taking on Miss Piggy and Beaker in a rap battle on TNT show Drop The Mic.
Fozzie Bear was obviously unable to participate in the rap battle as he was busy with his voice acting debut. The muppet has recorded a guest spot as dentist Dr Enamel in the Disney Channel cartoon Big City Greens.
Invincible, a comic book series from Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, will become an animated show on Amazon with voice talent including Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh, Zazie Beetz, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Jason Mantzoukas, Mae Whitman, and Chris Diamantopoulos.
