The first ever Neighbours spin-off! Also, QT's Once Upon a Time TV plans.

Always Be Watching is written by Dan Barrett

With the assembly cut of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood reaching four hours and twenty minutes, there’s talk, supported by Brad Pitt, that Quentin Tarantino may turn his movie into a mini-series - as had been done with The Hateful Eight for Netflix.

"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood"

As has seemingly been customary for the end of the week, a whole bunch of new TV-related trailers have dropped.

First there is Jack Ryan - Season 2, which returns on November 1 on Amazon.

Then there’s Netflix’s Disenchantment Part 2:

And then there’s this teaser for the Mad About You revival which returns to Spectrum in the US on November 20. I’ll be honest, the couple of photos of 2019 Paul and Jamie brought such a massive smile to my face. I’m so in on this… if I can work out how to watch it.

It’s amazing that Neighbours has never had a spin-off. Until now.

Entitled Neighbours: Erinsborough High, the series is being produced by Fremantle and is set to debut on the Viacom-owned U.K. streaming platform My5 across one week in November. Neighbours itself airs daily on Viacom's U.K. network Channel 5. (It ran on the BBC from 1986 to 2008, gaining huge popularity among British audiences in the late '80s and '90s.)

The spinoff will explore what goes on behind the scenes of Neighbour's fictitious school Erinsborough High during exam period, and the revelations sparked following the disappearance of a student. The storyline will run in parallel with the flagship show on Channel 5.

It seems to be a limited one-week experiment for the moment. It will also screen in Australia on streaming service 10 Play from November 11.

And keeping with Australia, TV Tonight has an interview with TV host/producer Simon Townsend about the 40-year anniversary of kids magazine-style afternoon show Wonder World, which ran from 1979-1987. It’s a fun read, though, I’ll be honest, I only really aged into that show right as it was finishing up, so I’ve never had much of a recollection of it.
