Netflix bosses won't get a 2021 raise

ALSO: RIP William Link. AND: The TV camera uprising.

Shed a tear for Reed and Ted

Sad news to begin today’s Always Be Watching newsletter. Netflix CEO’s Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos will not get a bonus in 2021. Nor will other Netflix executives. Ted’s 2021 salary remains at a paltry $20 million, which is what he made in 2020, while Reed’s salary will remain at $650,000. Their full compensation package for the year will remain at $34.65 million each.

The struggle is real.

RIP William Link - Co-creator of Columbo and Murder She Wrote

William Link first started collaborating with Richard Levinson in the 1940s. The two met as 14 year-olds and immediately started writing stories and radio scripts together. In 1971 they co-created the TV series Columbo and in 1984 their series Murder She Wrote (created with a third collaborator Peter S. Fischer) debuted. Despite a lack of sex, violence, and a mass-murdering lead detective, Murder She Wrote somehow became a huge success and ran for 12 years.

Link passed away from heart failure at the age of 87.
