High Fidelity trailer. PLUS: More Mandalorian! And: Obama lists his best!

Always Be Watching is curated by Dan Barrett

Hello friend.

I hope you had a great Christmas break. This week, ABW is getting back into the swing of it. News is still a bit light on, but there’s a few interesting things to discuss.

The trailer for the new High Fidelity TV series is now online. It debuts February 14. I was originally skeptical of this just because as a gender-swapped series, it didn’t seem authentic to every time I’ve gone into dive record stores where it’s always dudes spending hours around the counter nerding out about records (which isn’t to say women don’t nerd out about records… they just seem to do it in different spaces).

But… watching the trailer, it all looks right and authentic. So, I dunno what I was concerned about.

The Mandalorian season 2 is already in production. Following the season 1 finale on Disney+ series showrunner Jon Favreau tweeted:

Pictured in the tweet is a Gamorrean, which suggests we might be heading to see what the state of things are on Tatooine in the years following the demise of Jabba The Hutt. (You may recall the Gamorrean guards at Jabba’s palace in Return of the Jedi).

Speaking of The Mandalorian, if you were a bit confused by the attention given to the two Stormtroopers at the start of the final episode you might need to up your nerd cred. The two were a knowing nod to two characters created for Dark Horse’s Star Wars comics Tag & Bink. The two characters operate kind of as the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Star Wars universe. In The Mandalorian they were voiced by Jason Sudeikis and Adam Pally.

Also due on Disney+ in 2020 is: The Falcon and Winter Soldier, Lizzie McGuire, Star Wars: Clone Wars (season 7), The Proud Family (season 3), Monsters At Work, Love Simon, and Big Red. There are also series of original shorts based on Chip ‘n Dale (but not as Rescue Rangers), and The Muppets.

And finally…

Barack Obama used to be the President of the United States before losing the role in a reality TV game show - I’m pretty sure that’s what happened. He just published his list of the best movies and TV shows of 2020.
