Daredevil fans won't quit! Golden Globes predictions! The most bonkers show on US TV!
ABW is by Dan Barrett who is back to work today. *sigh*
Beyond the fact that by the time Disney would have space for it on Disney+ (do fans really think Disney doesn’t already have the first 2-3 years of planned production for the service already in place?), the show will have been out of production for so long that the cast will have moved on to other projects. Plus, the fact it is a shared universe makes it difficult to integrate the Netflix TV world into the quite-different world created with the feature films.
Most importantly: A Daredevil series isn’t going to drive additional subscriptions. These same fans will be just as likely subscribing to watch other, less difficult to mount, Marvel shows on the service.
And that’s in spite of the fact that The Masked Singer is a stupid, unconscionable act of lowest-common denominator aggression on the American public, by a network owned by Rupert Murdoch, a man who has nothing to lose and everything to gain by furiously attempting to dumb us down.
I am going to watch EVERY SECOND of it.
I gotta give this show a proper look. It sounds bonkers.
Samsung will announce its 2019 line-up of televisions at the CES trade show tomorrow. But, a day ahead of that the company has announced that it has partnered with Apple to bring iTunes Movie and TV sales/library to Samsung televisions.
This seems like a stealth way for Apple to start moving its upcoming TV streaming service onto platforms beyond Apple hardware. Tho, that’s idle speculation - we still don’t know what Apple’s TV platform is going to be or how it plans to monetise.
Amazon’s upcoming series based on the movie Hanna is a reboot of the story and not a continuation (it seems). Something interesting about this: the pair playing Hanna’s parents are Joel Kinnaman and Mirielle Enos - formerly partners on-screen in The Killing (US).
The Golden Globes air in just a few hours time (as I write this). They are generally not worth paying much attention to, but a few things I’m expecting to see:
Major wins for Homecoming and series star Julia Roberts. The only upset here could come if the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s love of Ryan Murphy (EP of the nominated Pose) outweigh’s its penchant for rubbing shoulders with Julia Roberts.
The HFPA love rewarding new shows, but expect to see them take a second look at The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
A Star Is Born dominating its categories.
Oh, and a win for Richard E Grant.
