Today is 23 Dec 2019. With the Christmas/holiday end of year break, a lot of you will be scratching around to find something to watch and keep you busy. A lot of TV show have finished up for the year (or are at least on a break until January).
I’ve assembled a list of all the new and interesting shows that debuted over the past week, along with a few shows that are returning over the next few days.
A few viewing tips for you over coming days:
The brand new A Christmas Carol is a mini-series from the BBC that is Dickens by way of Peaky Blinders. So, if you think you know the story, expect a very different attitude with this one.
If you haven’t already seen it, an under-the-radar show that just wrapped its first season is For All Mankind (Apple TV+). I loved the first season dearly and I think it’s one of the gems from the TV year that not enough people noticed existed. It is a really clever drama about the acceleration of social progress when NASA gets involved in the US/Russian cold war. The first season has a focus on women taking an active role in space missions through the 70s, but the show also has a storyline regarding gay and lesbian NASA staff that I suspect will become a dominant consideration through its second season.
Amazon Prime Video has an original movie The Aeronauts. As per Rotten Tomatoes:
Available now: Runaways (s3)
This week: Lost in Space (s2) - 24 Dec, Letterkenny (s8) - 26 Dec, You (s2) - 27 Dec
A Christmas Carol
Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter man, despises his fellow human beings, the Christmas holiday and what it represents. On Christmas Eve night, he is visited by the ghost of his dead partner Jacob Marley, who warns him that in order for both of them to be redeemed Scrooge will be visited by three spirits. Over the course of that night, Scrooge will be confronted by visions from his past, present and future in the hope that these experiences will help him to re-connect with humanity... especially his own.
It’s the classic Charles Dickens story as re-told by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight…
The Aeronauts (movie)

As their perilous ascent reduces their chances of survival, the unlikely duo soon discover things about themselves -- and each other -- that help both of them find their place in the world.
