Always Be Streaming - 9 April 2021

The only must-watch this weekend is the new Amazon Prime Video show Them. It’s a socially aware suburban horror in the new tradition of the Jordan Peele film Us and HBO’s Lovecraft Country*.

The show has a genuinely creepy opening scene, doubles down with an absolutely magnificent opening title sequence, and then continues to hold you until the closing credits. I’ve seen the first few episodes and it delivers on the promise of the show handsomely.

[*Lovecraft Country is a lot more bold, more artistically interesting. But Them proves to be more accessible and way more popcorn in its approach.]

Consider this podcast your TV and movies north star - it’ll keep you up to date on the big news stories of the week, reviews of new shows and movies, plus interviews with interesting filmmakers.
