Alex Rider and The Last Days of American Crime

It’s a long-weekend here in Australia with a holiday on Monday. It’s actually my favourite public holiday: the Queen’s Birthday. I love it because it’s so meaningless.

This gives extended hours of TV viewing this week. Some things you should know:

  • The biggest shows this week are all returning series - the final seasons of both 13 Reasons Why and Fuller House.

  • The show I’m most keen to watch is new Aussie dramatic comedy Operation Buffalo. It’s from Rake creator Peter Duncan, so that should give you an idea of the type of comedy we’re in for.

  • Dirty John returns for a second season, but is really just in name only. It’s an entirely new story with new leads: Amanda Peet and Christian Slater.

returning:

13 Reasons Why (s4), Dirty John (s2), Ramy (s2), Fuller House (s5-B), Queer Eye (s5)

PODCAST

To infinity and beyond! This week on the Always Be Watching podcast:

  • Dan and Chris want to get boots on the moon as they talk about the new Steve Carell comedy Space Force - the critics hate it... Chris really digs it.

  • Dan watched the buzzy new doco Spaceship Earth - spoiler alert: it's not really about people on a spaceship. They were on Earth all along.

  • Chris raves about new animated comedy Central Park.

  • And then the guys wrap up the reviewing portion of this podcast by talking about TV's most basic romcom: Love Life.

And then they quiz.
