Your weekly guide on what to press play on.

Reviews for it weren’t particularly strong, but I still enjoyed the new Edward Burns TV series Bridge and Tunnel. As far as Ed Burns joints go, it’s way more She’s The One than The Brothers McMullen in terms of quality scale - but I still always liked She’s The One.

And if none of that means anything to you, you missed out on a great two year stint for writer-director Edward Burns - a stint he has never replicated since in his career.

Bridge and Tunnel is an 80s set period-piece about a group of friends in New Jersey on the cusp of leading adult lives. There’s nothing revelatory here, but it’s rather watchable. Australian viewers might want to keep an eye out for former Neighbours star Caitlyn Stasey.

It’s a solid weekend for movies - The Dry on Netflix will get most people’s attention, but this weekend also has the Justin Timberlake drama Palmer, and HBO Max’s continued day and date experiment with The Little Things - a great-looking Denzel Washington film.

You might also want to check out hot new podcast Screen Watching - a new venture from me. Details are below.
